Ethics

In 2005, the membership of the HSMG adopted a Code of Ethics. As part of the sign-up and renewal processes, all members agree to abide by the code in their soapmaking endeavors.

Along with the Code of Ethics, the membership also approved a formal procedure for handling allegations and complaints of wrong-doing under the Code of Ethics. These procedures are intended to protect members from unsubstantiated allegations yet still protect the HSMG and the public from the possibility of unethical actions on the part of a member.

For the membership, the Ethics procedures also provide a way to resolve allegations of mis-management on the part of the elected officers of the HSMG should they arise at any time in the future.

Allegations of violations of our Code of Ethics by current Soap Guild members may be brought to the attention of the Ethics Committee through the HSMG complaint process. No action will be taken without a complaint being filed.

For additional information you may also send an email to Ethics@soapguild.org.
