The Associate Membership is for individuals who make handcrafted soap and/or cosmetics, but do not market or sell to the public. It is intended for those who are learning the craft and making soap or cosmetics, but are not yet ready to go into business.
Associate Memberships include all member benefits except those that specifically relate to marketing and selling handcrafted soap and cosmetics. Associate members may vote, but not hold office.
The Professional Membership is for individuals who make handcrafted soap and/or cosmetics and market them to the public and are located in the US. Benefits for Professional Members are geared toward those things that assist in promoting handcrafted soap and cosmetics, increasing proficiency in the trade, improving business skills, encouraging networking opportunities and providing general exposure for the member's business and products.
The Professional Membership includes product liability insurance, with several options. See the Insurance FAQ for additional information about insurance.
The Professional Membership is for individuals who reside in Canada, make handcrafted soap and/or cosmetics and market them to the public. Benefits for Professional Members are geared toward those things that assist in promoting handcrafted soap and cosmetics, increasing proficiency in the trade, improving business skills, encouraging networking opportunities and providing general exposure for the member's business and products.
The CANADIAN Professional Membership includes the option to purchase product liability insurance. Canadian insurance is not available in the Province of Quebec.

The Professional Membership normally includes product liability insurance, which is waived if the handcrafter already has comparable insurance coverage. Your membership will be processed, but the waiver process will need to be completed within 15 days. You will receive additional information on how to complete that when your membership is activated.
The Professional Membership is for individuals who make handcrafted soap and/or cosmetics and market them to the public and are located outside the US and Canada. If you reside in Canada, join using the Canadian Professional Membership; if you reside in the U.S., join using the Professional Membership.
Benefits for Professional Members are geared toward those things that assist in promoting handcrafted soap, increasing proficiency in the trade, improving business skills, encouraging networking opportunities and providing general exposure for the member's business and products.
The International Professional Membership does not include product liability insurance.
The Retired Professional Membership is for an individual who has previously been a member of the Handcrafted Soapmakers Guild and is now retired from handcrafting soap and cosmetics. They may still make soap or cosmetics for personal use, but do not market or sell to the public.
