Nestled in Southwestern Colorado, scenic Telluride should be on everyone’s “bucket list.” This idyllic mountain community became our inspiration for abandoning the high stress of corporate life and branch out to focus on taking care of ourselves and helping others do the same. Not surprisingly, Telluride offered many opportunities to learn more about natural ingredients with input from like-minded artisans and handcrafters. 

Previous work with a mid-size skin care company led us to discover how difficult it is to adequately eliminate harsh chemical preservatives and synthetics from sourced ingredients and base products. Locating labs willing to formulate without these additives was difficult. It became clear that working in-house on a smaller scale was essential to bringing authentic, truly natural products to market. 

Hence, Smart By Nature was born. Starting with small batch soaps and evolving into a full line of bath and body products, our company is inspired by nature and passionate about sustainability and reducing environmental impacts.

Batholith Soaps was started with the intention to combine a love of geology with a love of creating. I use my background in geology to inspire my soap designs, as well as provide an opportunity to create a unique teaching tool. My soaps are small batch in order to allow me to precisely control how they come out, and each comes with an informational card relating to the topic they are designed around.

I have taken the pledge to reduce my plastic use and as such, my packaging is largely free of plastic (I am still looking for a good alternative to tape) and made from recycled materials.

Blue Loon Botanicals is an evolving line of bath and body care products that are gentle, hydrating and crafted primarily from plant based ingredients. Blue Loon Botanicals also has a full line of beeswax and soy candles that help clean your air as they burn and help reduce indoor pollutants. Blue Loon Botanicals uses almost exclusively natural ingredients in all product formulations. You will find no synthetic additives but rather high quality natural ingredients, many organic, and all oils and lye of food grade quality. The essentials oils used in these products are either steam distilled or CO2 extracted. Blue Loon Botanicals does not use solvent extracted essential oils so there will never be any trace of chemical solvents in our soap, lotions or candles. On some occasions to satisfy the request of our clients we may used carefully sourced fragrance oils.

What is Plumeria?

Plumeria is based out of Grand Island, NY and we create luxury, natural bath products by hand. Our company was built with simplicity in mind. We take simple, high quality ingredients and hand craft them into bath products that look like art and smell amazing. Plumeria specializes in bath bombs, soaps, lotions, and creams that contain no harsh chemicals or preservatives found in most over the counter bath products.

History of Plumeria

When you have an obsession for bath products, it only makes sense to start your own line…and that is exactly what owner and founder, Cindy Inman did. In 2013, Cindy was ready to make a change after working in marketing for years. With the support of her husband and family, Cindy started making bath bombs (some disguised in the shape of cupcakes) in her kitchen!

After mastering her bath bomb recipe she moved on to handmade soaps. Plumeria was first introduced to the public at a local craft show where the products were met with an overwhelming response. Seeing she was on to something, Cindy continued to grow her product line by creating lotions, sugar scrubs, whips, candles and more.

Plumeria products were very well received by the local community. The more people that used them, the more people that loved them. Social media became a catalyst for driving growth. As new products were perfected, Plumeria would introduce them on social media and the demand continued to increase.

Seven months into business, Plumeria started working with their first direct sales consultant. Cindy actually had someone come to her and say “I want to sell Plumeria” and Plum Girls were born. By this time Plumeria had taken over the Inman’s house! What started as a home-based business had quickly evolved into a larger operation that needed its own space. So, by November 2014, Plumeria moved into a new home, which now serves as its flagship retail location and production facility.

Today, Plumeria has a retail location in Grand Island, New York, Plum Girls across the country and business partners that retail Plumeria products in their own stores. Cindy functions as the CEO and her daughter CayLeigh is her right-hand in the business.

I make handcrafted soap - Cold Process and Hot Process as well as some Melt & Pour. I also handcraft Bath bombs and Bath Truffles.

We offer soaps made the old fashioned way with updated ingredients. Using basic,  ingredients such as oatmeal, honey, herbs, beeswax and an array of food grade, finest quality, sustainable oils and butters. Every bar has something from the hive either beeswax, honey or both. The soaps are scented with essential oils. We prefer to use natural colorants. However nature identical micas can be fun. Each product is made personally by us from start to finish. We self-test all products before we sell them. Each variety of soap is produced in small batches of 18 to 20 bars. The freshly made soap is hand cut into bars and allowed to cure for 6 weeks. Because the soap is hand cut no two bars will be exactly alike.

At Urban Kitchen, our mission is to create the best handmade soap and skin care products using the finest ingredients nature has to offer. Our soaps are all hand made from scratch using the old fashioned cold process method of soap making. These method allows the soap to retain all the natural glycerin that is so beneficial for your skin. All of our soaps are made from 100% vegetable oils such as olive, coconut, palm, and castor oils. Each batch is handpoured, hand cut, and packaged in recycled paperboard.  The small differences in each bar confirm the handmade charm of our craft.
