Soapmaker Membership

The Soapmaker Membership is for individuals who make handcrafted soap and market it to the public. Benefits for Soapmaker Members are geared toward those things that assist in promoting handcrafted soap, increasing proficiency in the trade, improving business skills, encouraging networking opportunities, and providing general exposure for the member's business and products.

In addition to the benefits listed below, a Soapmaker Member may be eligible for additional benefits by becoming an HSMG Benefactor.

A Soapmaker Member receives all of the basic membership benefits, including:

• Subscription to The Handcrafted SoapMaker (4 issues)
• Participation in Member Forum
• Use of Member Resource Library
• Use of Member Seal
• Access to Advanced Lye Calculator
• Right to become and HSMG Certified Soapmaker
• Vendor discounts
• Annual Conference registration discount
• Participation in Referral Program
• eNews subscription
• Voting rights
• Right to volunteer and/or serve on a committee
• Right to serve on the Board of Directors
• Protection under the HSMG Code of Ethics

The Soapmaker Member has the following additional benefits:

• One million dollars in product liability insurance (except as noted below)
• Inclusion of a listing in the OnLine Soapmaker Roster (optional)
• Inclusion of a picture of his/her soap in the Soap Gallery (optional)
• Access to sales leads generated from HSMG magazine ads promoting handcrafted soap
• Ability to respond to information requests coming from the Public Info Requests form on the HSMG website

International Soapmaker Members

Product liability insurance, which is part of the Soapmaker membership, is only available for soapmaker within the United States. For soapmakers from other countries the insurance is excluded from the membership and the membership price adjusted accordingly.

Due to international mailing costs, the international membership includes The Handcrafted Soapmaker Journal of the HSMG in electronic form only. If you would like to receive a print copy by mail, you can choose to do so in the shopping cart. There is an additional $20 per year charge for sending the issues by mail.

Soapmakers with insurance already

For soapmakers who already have product liability insurance, the insurance portion of the membership may be waived and the membership price adjusted accordingly.
