The HSCG Ingredient Lookup Database contains most of the single ingredients (such as oils, essential oils, additives and colorants) used in handcrafted soap and cosmetics.

It also contains a growing list of "blended ingredients", and for each one the individual component ingredients are shown with the correct format for listing in the ingredient declaration.

You can search for an item by the standardized INCI name, common name, synonyms, aliases, trade or brand name, or the Latin name (if applicable).

Enter the complete name or just a portion of it. Search results will be returned for all items that match the characters entered. Punctuation is ignored. Searches are case insensitive:

"lav" will match Lavender, Lavandin, Lavandula Angustifolia, Lavandula Hybrida, etc.
"Lavender" will match Lavender, and Spike Lavender
"lavandula" will match Lavandula Angustifolia, Lavandula Hybrida
"French lavender" will match only French Lavender
"frenchlavender" (no spaces) will not match lavender, or French Lavender
"french-lavender" (dash is removed) will not match Lavender, or French Lavender
"French. Lavender." (periods removed, spaces retained) will match Lavender, or French Lavender

To broaden your search, use fewer letters; to narrow your search, use complete words.

To search for whole words, use a space before and/or after the word.
