The newly added Associate Membership is an add-on benefit that Professional Members can purchase for their employees (up to 5).

In 2022, the HSCG membership voted to change the way Professional Memberships are handled. Previously, Professional Memberships were held in the name of an individual; now, Professional Memberships will be in the name of the company, with one representative designated to handle the membership affairs including voting on behalf of the company.

We recognize that our makers with businesses may have multiple employees, and our Associate Membership is built for those makers. Associate Members receive all of the benefits of a Professional Membership EXCEPT the ability to vote - only one vote is given to the company, to be cast by the designated person on the Professional Membership regardless of how many Associate Members are affiliated with the membership.

This means that Associate Members can:

Manage listings
Access supplier discounts
Attend the HSCG Annual Conference at a reduced rate
Take part in the HSCG Certification Program

There are a few limitations on the Associate Membership:

Only the designated representative for the Professional Membership (usually the business owner) can purchase, renew, or deactivate an Associate Membership.

Associate Members are not able to vote.

Pricing & Terms

Associate Memberships are $50 per member, up to five (5) members. These memberships are non-transferrable and expire on the date that the affiliated Professional Membership expires, regardless of when the Associate Membership was purchased. Associate Memberships are not prorated, meaning that the price for the membership remains $50 whether an Associate Member is added upon purchasing a Professional Membership or at any time during the Professional Member's term (i.e: if a Professional Member expires on 6/02/2023 and they add an Associate Member on 06/01/2023, the price is still $50). For this reason, we strongly recommend paying close attention to the expiration date on your Professional Membership before purchasing an Associate Membership. No refunds or credits will be granted should a Professional Member need to remove an Associate Member for any reason. Any Certifications earned by an Associate Member will expire with their membership and are not transferrable to a separate Novice, Professional, Private Label, or Vendor Membership.
